One person was killed while four others were injured after three gunmen fired more than 50 shots inside a garage in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood.

The quintuple shooting took place inside an auto garage around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday along the 3400 block of Rorer Street. Five men were inside the garage when at least three masked gunmen entered and opened fire before fleeing the scene, police said.

"I was watching TV with my cat and almost hit the ground when I heard that," Romi Rosario, a neighbor, told NBC10. "And it was a very scary situation."

Christian Figueroa, 39, was shot multiple times in his head and body. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:50 p.m.

A 28-year-old man, 30-year-old man, 27-year-old man and 32-year-old man were also shot. The four victims were taken to the hospital. The 28-year-old man is in stable condition and released while the three other victims remain in the hospital in critical condition.

Over 50 shell casings were found in the garage. Police believe Figueroa was the intended target.

"The fact that he was hit so many times in his face, head and body and the shell casings are so close to his body -- just a few inches and a few feet away -- it appears that he was an intended target," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

It is unknown at this time if the other victims were targeted as well.

Philadelphia police said there were surveillance cameras inside the garage that will help them identify the suspects.
