Back to Business at Reading Terminal Market After Shops Had to Close for a Day

After an electrical issues forced nearly two dozen Reading Terminal Market vendors to close Thursday, the historic market says it’s back to business Friday.

Nearly two dozen shops at Philadelphia's historic Reading Terminal Market were forced to close Wednesday due to an electrical issue. By Friday morning, all the shops were back open.

The Center City market listed the temporarily closed merchants -- which include DiNic's, Famous 4th Cookie Company, O.K. Produce, Sang Kee Peking Duck and Termini Brothers Bakery -- on its website and social media late Wednesday.

  • Mueller Chocolate Company
  • O.K. Produce
  • Old City Coffee (main)
  • Pearl’s Oyster Bar
  • Profi’s Creperie
  • Really Reel Ginger
  • Sang Kee Peking Duck
  • Sweet Nina’s
  • Tea Leaf
  • Termini Brothers Bakery

The electrical issue was resolved Thursday night so that all of the market's 78 shops could open on time at 8 a.m. Friday, the market said.

"We are happy to announce the power is back and all stores are open!" a message on the 130-year-old market's website said.

The market thanked everyone for their patronage and patience.

"The Market thanks all of our customers and colleagues for their patience, and we are especially indebted to those merchants who pitched in to help their fellow Market tenants by supplying free ice, freezer and storage space during the emergency," the market said.
