Film Festival Pick: The argument could be made, we suppose, that indie cinema can sometimes be a bit too esoteric for its own good, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with leaving things up to an audience's imagination. Which is what is so terrific about Sean Durkin's harrowing Martha Marcy May Marlene, which features a brilliant turn from Elizabeth Olsen as a young woman recently escaped from a cult, who holes up with her sister and brother-in-law in their fancy Connecticut lake rental while being haunted by some of the more sinister practices of the group. The film plays tonight at the Ritz Five. $12. 7:40 p.m.
Archers of Love: Combine one part bouncy electro beats, one part fuzzy pop vocals, and just a pinch of funky declaration, and you have a decent approximation of L.A.'s White Arrows, who play tonight at the TLA, opening for the Naked and Famous. $28. 7 p.m.
Get Crafty: One of the craft brew pioneers in the city, Dock Street has been painstakingly brewing small batches of killer ales for years. If you strategize a little bit, you can enjoy some of their finest work on the cheap: How's about $4 brews for happy hour? After that, you're on your own, but our bet is you'll want to stick around for a while. 4-6 p.m.
