Return to the theatre where it all began.
This weekend is Phoenixville, Pa.’s annual BlobFest. The three-day festival to honor and remember the film, The Blob. You probably want to make it time for the “Running Out of the Theatre” reenactment. A thousand enthusiastic fans are expected to run from the theatre in horror around 9 Friday night.
The enormous group of fans set to run out of the Colonial Theatre and onto Bridge Street are expected to meet thousands of more fans to celebrate their love of everything The Blob.
Tickets to get inside on Friday are sold out but that doesn’t mean you can’t blob around other festivities.
On Saturday events begin at 11 a.m. There will be a fair with the original fire truck from the film as well as merchandise to be purchased, food and live music.
The Blob will be playing several times in the Colonial Theatre on Saturday followed by other cult classics, Invaders from Mars and It Conquered the World.
Blobfest wraps up Sunday with a final showing of the film at the Colonial Theatre.
Be advised that wristbands must be purchased to participate in most Blob activities. Prices vary from $6 to $10 depending on age.
