‘The Voice' recap: Knockout rounds underway, how local contestants are doing

NBC Universal, Inc.

The knockout rounds are underway on NBC's hit singing competition "The Voice."

Over the last few weeks, coaches Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé, and Snoop Dogg have had to make hard decisions from the blind auditions to the battle rounds, sending people home.

But, Tuesday night, it was a double victory for two local singers, Gabrielle Zabosky from Chester County and Shye Roberts, a Bethlehem native and graduate of Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts.

Zaboskey wowed the judges with her rendition of Miley Cyrus' "Used To Be Young," and Coach Stefani declared her the winner of the knockout rounds. She has now advanced to the playoffs.

Philly Live's Astrid Martinez had the chance to catch up with Zaboskey earlier this week to discuss her journey in the competition so far.

NBC's Marc Barger catches up with Sting as the music icon joins "the Voice" as a mega mentor. Philly Live's Astrid Martinez then chats with Chester County's Gabrielle Zabosky about her turn on the show.

Then, Roberts, who is on "Team Bublé," took the stage and sang Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" and moved on to the playoffs.

Now, Philadelphia's own Aliyah Khaylyn -- who is on team Snopp Dogg -- is preparing for the knockout rounds next week.

Khaylyn and teammate Sofronio Vasquez performed Céline Dion's "The Power of Love" during their battle round.

Bublé ended up choosing Vasquez, but just as Khaylyn prepared to say goodbye, Snoop Dogg swooped in and hit his steal button, keeping her in the competition.

Khaylyn was recently on Philly Live to discuss how she feels about her upcoming knockout round.

The knockouts are in full swing on NBC's hit show "The Voice." Philadelphia's very own Aliyah Khaylyn joins Philly Live's Astrid Martinez in studio to talk about her journey so far and how she feels about her upcoming knockout round.

A few weeks ago Mark Shiiba from Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, gave a powerful performance during his Battle Round.

Shiiba faced off against his "Team Bublé" teammate Edward Preble and performed Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World." Ultimately, coach Bublé picked Preble, sending Shiiba home.

You can watch the remaining local contestants' journeys on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and streaming next day on Peacock.
