Sheila Watko is an Entertainment Reporter and Traffic Anchor for NBC10 Philadelphia. You can watch her live traffic reports weekdays from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m.
“I grew up watching NBC10 and I’m excited to connect with the viewers by helping them get out the door and on the roads with as little hassle as possible,” she said.
Sheila joined NBC10 in July 2019 and is thrilled to be reporting in her hometown. She is a Montgomery County native and was raised in Glenside, Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining NBC10, Sheila spent three and a half years as a photo researcher with NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers working on the show’s “A Closer Look” segment. She assisted with live event coverage for the primary and presidential debates, midterm elections, Democratic National Convention and Republican National Convention. Sheila was also a radio personality on New York’s New 102.7/WNEW-FM. She has previously worked as a production team member on The Meredith Vieira Show, a producer/personality on 95.5 PLJ/WPLJ-FM, and a page at Late Show with David Letterman. She has also reported on projects for Channel One News and MTV.
“Watching NBC10 as a child is what got me interested in news and broadcasting,” Sheila said. “Now that I have the honor of working at the station that started it all for me it feels like my journey has come full circle.”
Sheila earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a specialization in digital media from Loyola University Maryland. She is passionate about education and anti-bullying, intersectional women’s issues, environmentalism, and sustainability. When she is not reporting traffic, Sheila enjoys musical theater, karaoke, and reading psychological thrillers.
