Marvin Gomez is a bilingual meteorologist for NBC10 and Telemundo62. You can watch Marvin’s forecasts weekday mornings at 11am and weekend mornings on NBC10.
Marvin comes to Philadelphia from State College, Pa., where he was a bilingual meteorologist at AccuWeather. Prior to that, he was a multimedia journalist at Entravision Communications in Orlando, FL. Marvin earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Lewis University, and his Weather Forecasting Certificate from Penn State University. Additionally, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Geosciences from Mississippi State University.
Marvin joined NBC10 and Telemundo62 in July 2022. Over the course of his career, he has gained experience covering all types of severe weather across the country. Hurricane season is very important to Marvin; some of the most prominent hurricanes he has covered include Ida, Eta, Iota, Matthew, Florence, Laura, Maria, and Michael.
“I am excited to forecast in Philly, a city very familiar to impacts from tropical systems,” Marvin said. “Having lived in central Pennsylvania for over four years, I am thrilled to be back in a city rich in history and endless restaurants to try every week. This is also an opportunity to reconnect with my Hispanic culture.”
Born in Guatemala, Marvin came to the U.S. when he was nine years old and lived in Chicago most of his life. While working for AccuWeather he became the first Latino Central American meteorologist on an English language network. Fluent in English and Spanish, Marvin’s goal is to learn Italian next. Promoting and encouraging higher education is an important cause he is passionate about.
In his free time, Marvin loves to travel the world and document his travel experiences. He loves nature and enjoys hiking and exploring state and national parks.
