Frances Wang is an anchor/reporter for NBC10. She joined the station in January 2022. You can watch her anchor weekend mornings and report weekdays on NBC10.
Frances is passionate about telling compelling stories about people in the community. Her favorite part of her job is getting to know people she may not have met otherwise and learning from them.
“I've heard nothing but AMAZING things about Philadelphia,” said Frances. “From the food scene to the passionate, loyal sports fans to the community pride. Philadelphians are known to be real and genuine; I can't wait to meet everyone.”
Fluent in Mandarin, Frances is a proud first generation Chinese American and loves sharing stories of her family, culture, and upbringing.
“I'm a HUGE foodie and love eating 'family style' or as I like to say, 'Chinese style' because you get to try a little bit of everything.”
Before joining NBC10, Frances served as an anchor/reporter at WFOR in Miami for three years. Prior to that, she was an anchor/reporter at KXTV in her hometown of Sacramento. Before that, she worked as a reporter/fill-in anchor at KREM in Spokane, Washington. Frances also spent time at CNN, E! News, and KABC-TV in Los Angeles.
Frances has a B.A. in Communication from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and a B.S. in Business from USC’s Marshall School of Business. She was raised in Sacramento, California, and currently lives in Center City.
One of her proudest accomplishments was receiving the ‘Community Impact’ award from the Sacramento Kings for her coverage and involvement with the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
A long-time volunteer and supporter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Frances met a young woman named Sammie who was a Wish Kid turned ambassador helping other kids and raising money in the fight against cancer. Sadly, Sammie’s cancer returned, and she passed away shortly after graduating high school. Her final request was to raise enough money to grant another kid's wish. They raised more than $165,000, which set a national record in the Foundation’s history.
When she is not on the news, Frances enjoys trying out new restaurants and spending time with family and friends.
