Wintry Mess of Light Rain, Snow, Sleet Could Glaze End of Your Weekend

Don't put the boots away: A wintry mess of light rain and snow in the far northern neighborhoods could glaze over the end of your weekend.

The First Alert Weather team is tracking a weather system moving in from the west and set to arrive in our area by 8 p.m. It will bring light snow to the far northern neighborhoods, rain to areas in and around Philadelphia and light rain to the south.

The best chance for snow will be areas along and north of Interstate 78.

Areas south of the Pennsylvania Turnpike, including Philadelphia, will likely get rain.

Snow, sleet, freezing rain and graupel are four different weather hassles that you might encounter this winter. First Alert Meteorologist Steve Sosna explains the differences among them.

Another storm Wednesday will bring a brief period of accumulating snow before changing to ice then rain. The NBC10 First Alert Weather Team will continue to watch this storm system as it will likely have greater impacts than Sunday evening’s storm.

Keep checking NBC10 on air and the NBC10 App (download it now) throughout the weekend for the up-to-date First Alert Weather forecast.
