Caught on Camera: Alleged Seafood Thief

Woman steals nearly $100 in seafood from a South Jersey grocery store, cops say

Police in New Jersey asked for the public’s help Wednesday to find an alleged seafood thief.

Surveillance cameras at the ShopRite on Chews Landing Road in Clementon captured a woman walking into the grocery store on Aug. 13 around 1 p.m. and allegedly walking out with about $90 worth of seafood, according to Gloucester Township Police.

After selecting various seafood items the surveillance video shows the woman apparently stuffing the food into her purse as she walks down a nearby aisle.

Gloucester Township Police put photos of the alleged thief and her getaway car -- a green Volkswagon Beetle -- on their Facebook page.

Police describe the suspect as a white woman with long blonde hair who was wearing a light shirt, jean shorts and dark flip flops who was carrying a black handbag that she allegedly used to stash the seafood.

Anyone who recognizes the woman is asked to call Gloucester Township Police at 856-228-4500 or e-mail police@gtpolice.com. Anonymous tips can be called in at 856-842-5560.
