A former coach who had trouble finding success of his own thinks the Eagles are going to have trouble dealing with theirs.
Fired Giants coach and part-time Pringles can model Ben McAdoo spoke with the New York Post on Thursday morning and said he thinks the Giants are going to win the NFC East in 2018 … in part because the Eagles won the Super Bowl.
Really.
"I think Philly, how much success has Philly had? I think they're gonna have a hard time handling success," McAdoo said. "Dallas, I like their offensive line, but how long have we been saying that? Their defense, they got a bunch of young guys playing DB, Sean Lee is banged up a lot, and their D-line, they got a bunch of guys getting in trouble all the time. And Washington is Washington, right?"
So in McAdoo's mind the Giants are going to turn around from a 3-13 season and win the division. I guess it's possible, but wouldn't that be pretty damning for McAdoo if he coached that terrible team and the next year they get a new coach and win the division? Hmm.
You'll remember, McAdoo was a hot name for the Eagles before they hired Doug Pederson in 2016. In fact, many think McAdoo would have been the Eagles' preference at the time. The Eagles dodged that bullet. Because after an 11-5 season in his first year, the Giants spiraled in 2017, going 3-13. But McAdoo didn't even see the end of the season, getting fired in early December after a 2-10 start.
The 41-year-old former coach didn't save his opinions for the other teams in the NFC East. He attacked his former team as well. Even though McAdoo seemed to like most of the Giants' moves this offseason, he got some jabs in.

The Giants paid Nate Solder a ton of money to be their left tackle. McAdoo thinks it'll help but also said he doesn't thing Solder is "a very good player."
And then he also ripped the guy Solder will replace, former first-round draft pick Ereck Flowers.
"He can't bend, you got to be able to bend," McAdoo said. "You can run around him on that side just like you can on the other side, Eli (Manning) just gets to see it, which may help Eli."
McAdoo is not on a coaching staff for the 2018 season. If he doesn't coach, it'll be the first NFL season he'll miss since 2003, when he was a graduate assistant at Pittsburgh. He's been on an NFL coaching staff every year since.
But after his dismal performance in 2017 and now these comments, there might not be a bunch of teams lining up.
