A Temple University football player is suspended from both the team and the University following rape accusations made by a female student, according to the school.
Temple says Praise Martin-Oguike will remain suspended pending the outcome of the case.
According to police, 18-year-old freshman linebacker Martin-Oguike was arrested on May 31 for allegedly raping another student in his dorm room five days earlier.
The Philadelphia Daily News reports that on May 26, the 21-year-old victim says she went to Martin-Oguike’s dorm room on Park Avenue around 4 p.m. to watch television. She claims that not long after, he began to kiss her. When she denied his advances, he allegedly forced her to lay down, then pulled down her shorts and raped her, according an affidavit obtained by the Daily News.
Martin-Oguike, who is from Sewaren, New Jersey, is facing multiple charges including Rape, False Imprisonment and Reckless Endangerment.
He is free after posting 10-percent of his $15,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 14, 2012.
