A former teacher's aide at a suburban Philadelphia school has been sentenced to 11 to 23 months in jail after pleading guilty to sex charges involving a 16-year-old student.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that 26-year-old Christine Towers of Phoenixville pleaded guilty Monday in Chester County to institutional sexual assault and corruption of minors.
Prosecutors said Towers had a sexual relationship with a Conestoga High School teenager she privately tutored. She apologized in court and said she had "gravely" learned her lesson.
Officials said Towers worked as a paraeducator and coach at Conestoga from August 2014 until April 2016. District officials said she coached eighth-grade girls' soccer and seventh- and eighth-grade track at Tredyffrin/Easttown Middle School during the 2014-15 school year
