An 18-year-old woman died late Saturday after police say she was hit in the chest by a stray bullet while she sat on her front steps in West Philadelphia. No arrests have been made.
A young woman died Saturday night when a stray bullet struck her as she sat on her front steps in West Philadelphia.
Police said 18-year-old Nadje Steedly was sitting outside a house on Salford Street near Callowhill about 11:30 p.m. when gunfire erupted nearby. The victim, who was not the intended target of the shooting, was hit in the chest by a stray bullet.
Steedly, who lived on nearby Ludlow Street, died a short time later.
Police have not made any arrests or said what motivated the shooting.
