Emergency crews and residents of West Kensington are still dealing with the aftermath of a warehouse fire that started over night at the intersection of American and Cumberland Streets.
Smoke drifting towards two Philadelphia elementary schools forced officials to cancel classes Friday.
The John Welsh Elementary School located on the 2300 block of North 4th Street and the William McKinley School on the 2100 block of North Orkney Street closed Friday since both are downwind of the site of a massive warehouse fire that left three people hurt.
Authorities also shut down several roadways near the blaze, which occurred on the 2400 block of American Street in the city's West Kensington neighborhood.
SEPTA detoured its Route 39 and 57 buses as officials continue to investigate the fire, which was placed under control at 4:11 a.m., according to officials.
