A man is in the hospital after he was shot near a playground and three schools in West Philadelphia.
The 37-year-old man was on 48th and Aspen streets Tuesday afternoon when an unidentified gunman opened fire before fleeing the scene. The man was struck twice in the back and taken to Presbyterian Hospital where he is in critical but stable condition.
No arrests have been made. Police contnue to search for the suspect.
A playground as well as the Middle Years Alternative School, Parkway West High School, and Sulzberger Jr. High School are all located near the scene of the shooting. No other injuries were reported.
