The 72-year-old man responsible for the shooting death of his Ridley Township neighbor is moving from Crozer-Chester Medical Center to a Delaware County jail, according to police.
Jim Dellavecchia was hospitalized on Monday after he rammed his head into the wall of his cell.
He was jailed for allegedly shooting and killing his 42-year-old neighbor. He also shot his neighbor's step-daughter early Monday morning.
The shooting happened around 6 a.m. on the 900-block of Sylvania Avenue in Ridley Township.
Authorities say that 42-year-old Scott Robbins was being picked up by a co-worker for his job at Metropolitan Fire and Sprinkler when his 72-year-old neighbor, Jim Dellavecchia, came outside and began shooting. Dellavecchia allegedly fired 10 to 15 shots, hitting Robbins four times before his step-daughter, Kristen Snow, came outside to see what was going on.
Dellavecchia voluntarily went into custody following the shooting. Once in the station, police say that he purposely slammed his head into his cell wall and had to be moved to Crozer to be treated for a "severe head injury."
Police formally charged Dellavecchia inside the hospital with the murder of Scott Robbins. He is also accused of shooting Snow.
