Neighborhoods under the First Alert saw heavy rain throughout the afternoon and evening

What to Know

  • Severe thunderstorms could hit parts of the region Tuesday afternoon into evening.
  • A First Alert is in effect for northern and eastern neighborhoods like the Lehigh Valley and Bucks, Mercer and Burlington counties.
  • Neighborhoods under the First Alert could experience damaging winds, heavy rain, hail and even an isolated tornado.

An unsettled weather pattern brought storms to parts of the greater Philadelphia region Tuesday afternoon and evening.

As a result, northern and eastern neighborhoods like the Lehigh Valley and Bucks, Mercer and Burlington counties were under a First Alert from 2 to 7 p.m. Pockets of heavy rain also led to a flash flood watch for the entire region through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Neighborhoods under the First Alert saw heavy rain throughout the afternoon and evening. The rest of the region saw some scattered showers. By around 8 or 9 p.m., those showers and thunderstorms were confined mostly to parts of Delaware, South Jersey and the Jersey Shore and should move out in the overnight hours.

However, the wet weather will continue to bring possible thunderstorms Wednesday and Thursday before things dry out Friday and into the weekend.
