Police arrested a 36-year-old man after linking him to six burglaries in two different northern Delaware communities.
New Castle County Police identified William Martin, of the 100 block of Faraday Court in Bear, Del., as a suspect after he was caught on surveillance video using a credit card stolen from the home of one of the victims. Detectives executed a search warrant at Martin's home, where he was arrested Friday without incident.
The suspect allegedly assaulted a homeowner on the unit block of Cedar Creek Court, Bear, during a burglary attempt before fleeing on foot. He is also a suspect in the burglary of another home on the same street, police said.
Residents were also inside their home on the Unit block of Boxelder Lane, Bear, during one of the two burglary attempts by Martin, according to police. He demanded money from the residents before fleeing, according to officials.
Two other homes on the Unit block of Silktree Court were also burglarized by Martin, said police, who added the suspect was also involved in additional thefts from motor vehicles.
Investigators took a second suspect into custody from Martin's home for misdemeanor charges and active warrants.
Martin faces multiple charges, including burglary, theft and attempted robbery and is being held on $265,300 bail.
