A Delaware police officer stands accused of possessing and sharing child pornography.
The investigation into the officer, identified as 45-year-old Robert Vasecka, who works for New Castle County Police, began when an Internet chat room reported one of its users uploaded child pornography, according to the Delaware Department of Justice.
The Child Predator Task Force looked into the suspected child porn upload, and their investigation led them to Vasecka, a state DOJ spokesman said. Authorities arrested Vasecka, and a search of his phone after his arrest revealed at least 25 child porn images on his phone, authorities said.
Vasecka is charged with 25 counts of dealing in child pornography. He is being held on $500,000 bail at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center.
New Castle County Police officials said Vasecka has been placed on paid administrative leave.
