State officials say a corrections officer smuggled marijuana and tobacco to inmates at a state youth facility.
An indictment handed up Tuesday charges Jaquae Hollingshead with conspiracy, official misconduct, bribery in official matters, money laundering and distributing marijuana. Officials say the 24-year-old Southampton resident has been suspended from his job as a senior officer at the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Yardville.
Officials say Hollingshead smuggled in the items on "multiple occasions'' in exchange for cash bribes from the inmates' friends and family on the outside. The inmates allegedly used a cell phone to coordinate the smuggling and sales with the officer.
Hollingshead could face more than 40 years in prison if convicted on all counts. It wasn't known Tuesday if he has retained an attorney.
