Former NFL Player Gets Probation in ‘Revenge Porn' Case in New Jersey

A former New York Jets linebacker has been sentenced to probation in a case that invoked New Jersey's landmark “revenge porn'' law.

Jermaine Cunningham, an NFL free agent, pleaded guilty last month to charges including invasion for privacy. He admitted posting revealing photos of a woman online without her consent. Prosecutors said the woman was Cunningham's estranged girlfriend.

In addition to three years' probation, a judge in Union County on Friday ordered Cunningham to participate in mandatory anger management counseling.

The decade-old New Jersey law was the first of its kind in the country. It forbids disclosing photos or videos without consent of someone ``whose intimate parts are exposed'' or who is engaged in a sexual act.

More than a dozen states have passed similar laws.
