A group of mummers will honor a local missing college student during their annual parade on New Year's Day.
The Jesters will wear special ribbons in honor of Shane Montgomery, according to Shane's family. A family member brought the green ribbons to the Jesters clubhouse Saturday.
Shane, 21, never returned home after leaving Kildare’s Irish Pub on Main Street in Manayunk while out with friends early Thanksgiving. Surveillance video captured the Roxborough native walking toward the Manayunk Canal and Schuylkill River but never returning.
Private dive teams found Shane’s keys in the Schuylkill River during a search on Dec. 21. The keys were the first items of Shane’s to be found in the water since he went missing.
Shane's mother Karen Montgomery continues to hold out hope that her son will be found.
“I miss him terribly,” she told NBC’s TODAY Show. “I text him every day to ask him to help me find him.”
A reward for information that leads investigators and the family to Montgomery still stands at $65,000. Anyone with information should contact Philadelphia Police at 215.686.TIPS.
The Mummers are set to kick off the Mummers Fest Sunday at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The annual event runs through December 31 and serves as a preview of the Mummers Parade on New Year’s Day.
