A man who jumped into Pittsburgh-area river following a police chase and crash drowned.
The Allegheny County medical examiner on Monday ruled the death of 19-year-old Sequorri Smith was an accident.
Police say the Arnold man nearly struck a pedestrian and sideswiped several parked cars in Tarentum early Sunday, then crashed at the base of the Tarentum bridge. A resident told police that the driver asked for help, then ran and jumped into the Allegheny River.
Investigators say Smith was seen clinging to a pier but later swam further into the river, began struggling and disappeared into the water. His body was recovered later Sunday.
