Workers have demolished a Jersey shore restaurant that fell victim to Superstorm Sandy and the winter.
McLoone's Rum Runer, which stood at 816 Ocean Ave in Sea Bright, was flooded with 5 feet of water and lost its waterfront dock during superstorm Sandy in 2012.
Machines tore through the restaurant Monday as Owner Tim McLoone stood nearby.
The restaurant opened in 1987 along the Shrewsbury River in Sea Bright.
The restaurant flooded and lost its dock during Sandy in 2012. Then the weather this past winter caused a pipe in the fire suppression system to burst, soaking everything inside.
McLoone tells the Asbury Park Press he met his wife in the building. McLoone says he plans to build a new Rum Rummer on the same spot.
Renderings of the future building are on the McLoone's Rum Runner Facebook page, which says the owners plan to reopen in summer 2015.
