Former PA Mayor Convicted of Possessing Child Pornography

A former Pennsylvania mayor has been convicted of looking at child pornography.

A Carbon County jury convicted 75-year-old Richard Corkery on Thursday of 27 counts of possession of child pornography.

Corkery was the mayor of Coaldale from 2009 to 2013. He did not run for re-election.

Nesquehoning police have said they found several pornographic images of underage boys when they searched the mayor's computer at WLSH-AM radio in 2011.

The Republican-Herald of Pottsville reports that Corkery testified the child pornography appeared on his computer as unsolicited pop-ups. He denied intentionally looking at child porn.

Corkery is free pending sentencing.
