This weather stinks! Not only has it made going outside very uncomfortable and even unsafe, now a rainy, cold forecast has forced the postponement of the first ever Mummers Mardi Gras Parade.
The parade, which was to be held in Manayunk this Sunday, was rescheduled due to an all day rain forecast, the Manayunk Development Corporation announced Thursday night.
"All of us who have worked so hard on this great event are disappoingted that the Mummers Mardi Gras Parade will not be going forward this Sunday as planned, but Mother Nature has a way of changing the best laid plans at the last minute," said Executive Director of the Manayunk Development Corp.
The new Mardi Gras parade was added last Dec. in the hopes that the increasingly expensive Mummers tradition can stay sustainable for years to come.
The rescheduled parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 on Main Street.
