A young boy suffered a serious bite wound to the face after he was attacked by the family dog inside his home in Toms River, New Jersey Monday night.
Officers with the Toms River Police Department responded to the home on 4th Avenue about 8:15 p.m.
Investigators say the three-year-old boy was playing with the dog when the animal bit the boy in the face.
The child was taken by medical helicopter to Cooper University Medical Center for treatment. He is currently in stable condition.
Police say both parents were home at the time of the incident.
The dog was taken into custody by the Toms River Animal Control for evaluation and observation.
