Emergency crews gathered at Rowan University after a lab accident at the school’s campus in Glassboro, New Jersey.
Officials say a student was conducting an experiment inside a science building on 230 Meditation Walk shortly after 5 p.m. As the student continued, officials say the chemicals sparked a reaction that triggered a fire alarm.
Firefighters evacuated students and staff from the building. A Hazmat crew was also sent to the scene. Officials say the student was checked out but was not injured. Everyone was allowed back inside the building shortly after.
Rowan University is a selective, medium-sized public university located at 201 Mullica Hill Road in Glassboro, Gloucester County, New Jersey. Over 12,000 students are currently enrolled in the school.
