A former northern New Jersey high school teacher says she wants to go to trial on charges she had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.
NJ.com reports that Jenna Leahey, a former English teacher at Parsippany Hills High School, turned down two plea deals from Morris County prosecutors on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say one would've required she plead guilty to official misconduct and receive a five-year prison sentence without the possibility of parole.
The other would've had her plead guilty to child endangerment and involved a five-year prison sentence with possible parole. She also would've been required to register as a sex offender.
Leahey is accused of having sexual conversations and sexual contact with the student between January and June of 2013.
Her trial is scheduled for July 11.
