A fire burned through a Mercer County apartment complex this morning leaving one person hurt and a group of people out of their homes.
The flames broke out around 6:30 a.m. in a first-floor unit of the Village East Apartments along Abbington Drive in East Windsor, N.J., according to investigators.
Resident Zaire Bailey's quick-thinking helped get his neighbors out in time before the fire could spread to four alarms as heavy smoke poured from the "K" Building.
"I ran downstairs and just started banging on people's doors making sure that they knew there was a fire," Bailey said.
One woman escaped with minor burns.
Sprinklers in the complex helped confine the fire to only four of the 24 units inside the building. Many of those units appeared to be totally damaged.
As SkyForce10 hovered overhead, firefighters could be seen battling flames on the pitched roof.

The fire was brought under control in less than one hour.
The American Red Cross said it was available in case displaced residents needed any assistance.
