New video reportedly shows an actor from the popular sketch comedy series "Chappelle’s Show" in a fight outside a Philadelphia restaurant stemming from accusations that he was trying to leave without paying his bill.
TMZ reported actor and comedian Donnell Rawlings was involved in an altercation outside Little Pete’s on South 17th Street Sunday morning. A video obtained by TMZ purportedly shows Rawlings, 45, fighting with two men outside the restaurant before a woman screams at him, telling him to leave.
A Little Pete’s employee told TMZ the fight unfolded after Rawlings walked out without paying his tab.
"All I asked was for you to pay your check," the woman in the video screams. "Who the hell do you think you are?!"
Rawlings told TMZ, however, he only went out for a smoke and was planning to go back inside to pay. He said a waitress followed him outside and started screaming at him before he got the chance.
TMZ reported police were called to the scene and Rawlings ultimately paid his $12 bill and even left a $60 tip. No arrests were made in connection with the incident.
NBC10 reached out to Little Pete’s for comment, but the restaurant declined to speak on the incident. Rawlings also had not returned a request comment at the time of publication.
Rawlings’ girlfriend, Stephanie George, addressed the incident on her Instagram page Sunday, defending her boyfriend and writing, "I am so sad and angry at this" and "Racism is alive!"
Rawlings also tweeted about the incident, reiterating that he had left his bag at the table and urging people not to "believe the hype."
Rawlings was in Philadelphia to perform at the Helium Comedy Club on the 2000 block of Sansom Street. He had another show Sunday night. The Washington, D.C., native is a radio host, actor and comedian best known for his roles on the popular sketch comedy series "Chappelle’s Show," including "Ashy Larry." He also appeared on the MTV2 shows "Guy Code" and "Guy Court."
