Upper Darby police have issued an arrest warrant for the man they believe killed a 23-year-old outside an after hours club early Monday, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.
Police are looking for convicted murderer, 37-year-old John “Big John” Gordon in connection with the shooting death of Randy Campbell, 23, outside of The Venue Bar on Garrett Road around 2:40 a.m.
Authorities tell the paper that Gordon served 12 years for a 1992 murder and is on parole until 2029.
They say he went out looking to kill someone, and, according to an affidavit obtained by the Delco Times, warned someone in the parking lot of the bar of impending danger.
“It looks like the guy he shot was totally innocent. Gordon went out to kill another guy…Hopefully we’ll get him off the street,” Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood tells the Daily Times.
A witness tells police they saw Gordon raise his gun, saw the gun go off and heard a pop, according to the Delco Times.
Police are describing the suspect as a black male, 6-feet-3 and 240-pounds.
A $1,500 reward is being offered by the U.S. Marshals leading to Gordon’s capture.
His last known address is 2500-block of South Belford Street in Southwest Philadelphia.
“He’s a convicted murderer, a violent offender armed with a .40-caliber, semiautomatic handgun and extremely dangerous,” Chitwood tells the paper.
