Conservationists Free Baby Bird Tangled in Balloon Ribbon in New Jersey Nest

Conservationists in New Jersey have freed a baby bird that was entangled in a balloon ribbon.

Members of Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey found the young osprey on Island Beach State Park with a red ribbon wrapped around its leg. The nest, which is about 35 feet off the ground, was littered with plastic debris.

The group says ospreys collect nesting material, including trash, from within view of their nests.

The group cautions people to never release balloons and to properly dispose of plastics.
