Philadelphia Police are searching for an armed robber who has targeted several women at bus stops in the West Oak Lane section of the city during the month of December, according to investigators.
Police say the suspect has committed six armed robberies since December 6 at or near bus stops in the area of Thouron Avenue and Upsal Street. During each incident, the suspect stole a cellphone from a female victim, according to officials.
Investigators say the incidents occurred at the following locations at the following times:
- 12-06-15 / 8:12am / Lowber & Upsal Streets
- 12-09-15 / 6:51am / Cedarbrook & Upsal Streets
- 12-17-15 / 11:30am / Thouron Avenue & Phil Ellena Street
- 12-18-15 / 8:00am / 1300 E. Sedgwick Street
- 12-26-15 / 7:42am / Cedarbrook & Upsal Street
- 12-28-15 / 8:35am / 1200 Easton Road
The suspect is described as a black male in his early to mid-20s with a light brown complexion, facial freckles, discoloration, a mole and medium build standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please call Philadelphia Police.
As the investigation continues, police advise residents in the area to walk in groups, avoid alleys and isolated places, be alert and aware of all surroundings, avoid wearing or carrying distracting items(ie. Ear buds, dark glasses, portable devices), avoid visibly displaying a cellphone or ear buds and report any suspicious people or activity immediately.
