Bucks County Youth Group Leader Accused of Sexually Assaulting Teen Girl, Trying to Assault Another Inside Church

A Bucks County youth group leader was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a teen girl and trying to assault another inside a church.

Michael Walusimbi, 22, of Bensalem, turned himself in to Middletown Township Police Monday. Police say Walusimbi sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl and tried to sexually assault a 15-year-old girl inside the Oxford Valley Chapel in Middletown Township during two separate incidents over the summer.

The 13-year-old girl told police Walusimbi grabbed her and then sexually assaulted her inside the church back on July 2.

The 15-year-old girl told police that Walusimbi attempted to sexually assault her inside the church as well over the summer while whispering in her ear that someday β€œshe would call him a pedophile.” The girl said she managed to break free from Walusimbi by kicking her leg backward.

Both girls are members of the church’s youth group in which Walusimbi is one of the leaders.

On November 3, Walusimbi allegedly admitted to police that he sexually assaulted the 13-year-old girl and tried to sexually assault the 15-year-old inside the church. He was arrested and charged with institutional sexual assault, attempted institutional sexual assault, indecent assault, attempted indecent assault, felony corruption of minors and misdemeanor corruption of minors. His bail is set at $50,000, 10 percent cash.

Investigators say Walusimbi may have assaulted others and are urging any additional victims to come forward.

Dr. Dan Skogen, the pastor of Oxford Valley Chapel, told NBC10 the church is cooperating with the investigation.

"We do ask for the prayers of fellow believers for all involved," he said. "We are truly, very deeply saddened over these recent events."
