One person was injured and around 40 people displaced during an apartment fire in Northampton County early Saturday morning.
The fire started about 1:30 a.m. at an apartment complex on the 1500 block of Irene Street in Bethlehem.
The fire reached three alarms before firefighters were able to place it under control about 2 a.m.
"The smoke was unbelievable," said Michael Toth, a witness. "I walked out into my driveway and the flames you can see from my house, they were like 50 feet in the air. They were huge."
During the fire, several neighbors rescued an apartment resident who was sleeping during the blaze.
"We saw people running in and out," said John Borso. "There was a lot of confusion as far as making sure everyone was safe to get out of the unit."
Naomi Diaz told NBC10 she feared for her pregnant sister, who lives on the ground floor of the apartment building, once the fire began.
"That's when I started freaking out because I'm like, 'it's gonna take the whole building,'" Diaz said.
Diaz eventually found her sister safe but scared, crying in her car.

One resident was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Three residents were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
No firefighters were injured.
Four apartments sustained damage, fire officials said.
The Red Cross is providing shelter, food and clothing for 40 residents who have been displaced.
"I feel really bad," Diaz said. "And I wish we could help but we could only do so much."
The cause remains under investigation.
