A Norfolk Southern freight train, originally reported as an Amtrak train, crashed into a tractor trailer in New Castle, Del. Monday afternoon, authorities say.
There were no injuries in the crash.
Delaware Fire dispatchers confirmed to NBC Philadelphia that it was an Amtrak train involved in the crash. Amtrak officials said that it was not one of their trains, and state police later said that it was a Norfolk Southern freight train.
The accident, involving a tractor trailer with no cargo, happened at about 1:50 p.m. on Pigeon Point Road, just outside the Port of Wilmington, police say.
Police were arriving at the scene at about 2 p.m.
New Castle Fire Company said the scene was under control at about 2:15 p.m.
Police were trying to get the Norfolk Southern train back on its way at about 2:40 p.m. Until then, Pigeon Point Road will be closed between Terminal Avenue and Lambson Lane.
