After a tense standoff that lasted for over an hour, seven men were taken into custody Tuesday night in connection to a double shooting that left one man dead and another injured.
Police say the ordeal began early Tuesday evening on the 1300 block of Ruscomb Street when gunmen fired at least 24 shots.
"We just heard gunshots," said Marie Hunt, a witness. "Back to back. I told my son to run at the top of my lungs. It was the scariest moment of our lives."
Two men were struck in the shooting. One victim was pronounced dead while the other is in stable condition.
Police say several suspects in the shooting ran inside a nearby home, leading to a barricade situation. SWAT Team officers arrived at the front of the house shortly after 6 p.m.
A dozen families were evacuated from the street during the tense standoff. After an hour and half of negotiations, several men walked out of the home with their hands raised.
Police took seven men in all into custody. Investigators also removed three dogs from the home and recovered several weapons, according to police.

"We found some blood," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. "We found a vehicle that was shot up. We found some weapons. This was a very volatile scene."
Investigators say each of the seven men will undergo a separate interview as they try to identify the people responsible for the shooting. According to officials, it doesn't appear the shooting victims were armed. They also say the gunmen used at least three weapons.
Small says officials will determine through ballistic tests whether the weapons that were taken from the home were used in the double shooting.
Officials have not yet identified the victims.
