Two people have been arrested and charged in the disappearance of a North Jersey man from inside an Atlantic City casino last week.
Craig Arno, 44, and 24-year-old Jessica Kisby are accused of carjacking and kidnapping Martin Caballero, prosecutors said Friday.
Caballero, 47, went missing just minutes after dropping his wife and two daughters off at the entrance of the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J. last Friday.
The Jersey City, N.J. man went to park the car inside the resort's self park garage when he went missing, police said.
“We allege Ms. Kisby then approached the spot in which Mr. Caballero parked, followed by Mr. Arno," Atlantic City prosecutor Ted Housel said. "There was a physical approach.”
Surveillance video from inside the garage showed a silver Toyota approach Caballero's white 2009 Lincoln MKZ. Several minutes later, his car was seen leaving the garage followed by the Toyota, authorities say.
A few hours later a stranger was captured on surveillance video withdrawing $300 from an ATM in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. Authorities believe that stranger was Arno.
Prosecutors say surveillance cameras from a Pleasantville Exxon station also captured Kisby filling a gas container.
They believe that gasoline was used to torch Caballero's car in a secluded parking lot in the Blackwood section of Gloucester Township, N.J. -- more than 50 miles from the seaside resort.
Authorities swooped down on the Golden Key motel in West Atlantic City, N.J. Friday morning to take the suspects into custody. NBC Philadelphia was the only station on scene to capture their arrest.
“The one guy, they dragged him out of one room and then they led the other girl out,” witnesses told NBC Philadelphia's Ted Greenberg.
Arno, who has a long criminal history, was said to have burns on his body when he was arrested. Both Arno and Kisby are each being held on $400,000 cash bail.
As for Caballero, he's still considered missing. Authorities are asking for the public's help in trying to find the man.
