Drivers in Center City Philadelphia should try to avoid the area of 15th Street near City Hall Monday as the road was closed for emergency repairs to fix a deep sinkhole.
The Philadelphia Streets Department warned motorists to seek alternative routes as work is done to 15th Street between South Peen Square and Chestnut Street.
Streets Commissioner David Perri announced early Monday that only one lane would get through until 9 a.m. after that, crews blocked off the road entirely until repairs can be made.
A large hole could be seen in the middle of 15th Street with orange cones and police barricades blocking off the area.
Perri didnβt say how long repairs could take.
