The man who shot an Upper Darby police officer is telling people that he wished he had an AK47 and killed the cop, authorities said.
Upper Darby police officer Ray Blohm was shot four times around 12:30 a.m. Friday but still managed to chase the apparently intoxicated man who shot him, police said. Marvin Marmolejos, 27, was named as the shooting suspect. Marmolejos had a .22-caliber gun, crack cocaine, marijuana and knife on him, police said.
Blohm was shot twice in the back once in the thumb and once in his vest after he used a taser on Marmolejos who had become combative and was allegedly drinking and smoking marijuana at Ludlow Street and Copley Road near Brownies Tavern, according to Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.
Marmolejos is allegedly a known drug dealer at that corner.
The suspect moved the taser off his body, pulled a gun and shot Blohm four times. Only one of the bullets was stopped by his bulletproof vest. Blohm then chased the suspect and opened fire, hitting Marmolejos four times.
In Friday's press conference, Chitwood said it's disturbing how the bad guys have more guns than the police.
Blohm and Marmolejos were being treated at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Blohm was released from the hospital Friday afternoon in good condition.

Blohm, 31, is a highly decorated officer and 10 year veteran of the Upper Darby police department. He is married with two young girls.
Marmolejos is being held on $1 million bond.
