A man was shot and killed and another man survived a gunshot in Chester, Pa., early on Saturday morning, marking the second and third shootings in just two days since the town's state of emergency was lifted.
The Saturday shootings follow an early afternoon incident on Friday in which a man was shot and killed. That same morning, Chester officials lifted a state of emergency set in place after a number of shootings last month, as NBC Philadelphia reported yesterday.
At 3:37 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a shooting at 823 Kerlin Street. Paramedics administered aid to the victim, who later died at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.
Chester Mayor Wendell Butler declared a state of emergency on June 19 following four murders over the course of eight days. During the 34-day state of emergency, the city instituted curfews and stationed additional police in certain areas.
