In a bizarre case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, a falling tree limb struck and killed a man sitting on a bench enjoying a warm afternoon outside Thursday.
The 65-year-old victim was struck while sitting on a bench along the Radnor Trail in Radnor Township near the Radnor Chester Road entrance, Radnor Township Police said.
A heavy 45-foot long limb allegedly struck the unidentified Devon, Pa. man, cops said.
A 17-year-old boy heard the branch fall and ran over to find the man underneath. The teen alerted authorities who rushed to the scene, police said.
He was taken to Bryn Mawr Hospital where he died around 3 p.m.
"Itβs unfortunate that someone had to lose their life because of the branch breaking off," said Carl Landeck who walks the path daily.
