A shoe store robbery turned into a library shooting after the alleged robber lunged at police with a knife.
The whole wild scene started Monday afternoon around 2:30 when a knife-wielding man held up a shoe store on the 5500 block of N 5th Street, police said.
Officers responding to the heist were directed by people on the street to a nearby library -- the alleged robber was seen running inside. When cops approached the unidentified man inside the library he allegedly charged the officers with a knife, police said.
One officer opened fire striking the suspect at least once, cops said.
The injured man was taken to Einstein Hospital where he was in critical condition.
Luckily no Innocent bystanders inside the library were hurt.
