Customers flocked to the revival of a famed North Jersey hot dog stand nearly a decade after it shuttered.
Callahan's hot dog stand in Norwood reopened Sunday to a line that stretched around the building. Callahan's supporters were willing to wait at least 90 minutes for lunch, including one loyal supporter who camped out on a beach chair for 17 hours.
But it wasn't just the hot dogs drawing people to the stand.
Owner Dan DeMiglio, whose grandfather launched Callahan's at a Fort Lee gas pump in 1950, told the Record newspaper that the restaurant is offering a nostalgic experience, not just food. He wants to unite customers by connecting them to a shared past.
