A local film fest is moving down the coast.
The Garden State Film Festival is moving to Atlantic City after a decade in Asbury Park.
The state Casino Reinvestment Development Authority on Tuesday voted to provide $300,000 over three years in hopes the festival will increase tourism in the spring.
Festival organizers became concerned that their venues in Asbury would be closed because of a disagreement between the city and a developer.
Festival director Diane Raver tells The Press of Atlantic City the possibilities are endless because Atlantic City offers limitless venues and a local airport.
“The festival has a wonderful home in Asbury Park for more than a decade, but Atlantic City can provide us the opportunity to present and compete at a whole other level,” Raver told the paper.
The 2014 film festival is scheduled to take place April 3 to April 6.
