Thanksgiving is behind us, which means Christmas is less than a month away. Many people mark the first weekend of the holiday season with a shopping trip; in Hollywood, they have a celebratory parade. This year’s Hollywood Christmas Parade took place Sunday night, and the grand marshal was daytime soap star Susan Lucci. Her on-trend look for the event is worth a little recapping.
Whether you’ve ever seen All My Children or not, there is a good chance you know who Susan Lucci is. Her role as Erica Kane and her long-awaited Daytime Emmy win for outstanding lead actress in a drama series (after almost 20 years of being nominated) are both legendary. And at the age of 62, Lucci is drop-dead gorgeous.
For her stint as the grand marshal of the Hollywood Christmas Parade, Lucci pulled off a “winter” look, Hollywood style. She wore a white, ribbed, long-sleeve fitted sweater dress that went to the knee. The dress had a turtleneck and a thin white belt. She wore camel-colored knee-high leather boots with fine detailing that were reminiscent of cowboy boots, but much sleeker. Lucci wore her dark shoulder-length hair down, and wore silver chandelier earrings with white beading.
Lucci’s look showed off her very slender figure, but was completely age appropriate. Her choice of those fabulous boots absolutely made the outfit; they were unique, yet understated. Her sweater dress said “Christmas” but the color choice (white ) and the cut (fitted) kept it light since she was in Los Angeles. Her minimal jewelry (no serious bling, which she is known for) seemed right for a parade. Her model-perfect smile gave her the finishing touch we should all try on from time to time.
Lucci’s look captured the feeling of the holiday season for me – keep it simple, warm and real. Less is more and a smile goes a long way. Even on the red carpet.
